Betty Faye Brown, 104, of Monmouth, Illinois, died at 1:48 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Maple Hill Senior Living Center (formerly Courtyard Estates) in Monmouth.
Betty was born March 22, 1922 at home in Rozetta, Illinois, the daughter of Harry Eugene and Florence (Goff) Alecock.
Betty married Mack Morris “Brownie” Brown on October 13, 1945 in Biggsville, Illinois. Brownie preceded Betty in death on January 6, 1996.
Betty is survived by one sister, Maida (Clifford) Johnson of Biggsville; many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents; Betty was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Robert, Vern “Buck”, and Harry “Corp,” and seven sisters, Ada Alecock, Mary Dowell, Melba Welch, Carol Alecock, Catherine Anderson, Sandra Cox, and Dorothy Day.
Betty worked for the City of Monmouth, Illinois for 21 years, spending 18 of them as the city clerk. She was a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, the Municipal Clerks of Illinois; and was a former member of Altrusa.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory in Oquawka, Illinois, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, Illinois.
