All across the world, American Cancer Society Relay for Life teams come together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones, and fight back against cancer. Local Senior Development Manager Stacey Dutton breaks down how donations support the mission with the Warren-Henderson Relay for Life team:
“81 percent of what we raise goes to the mission. We have this more mission more money, more money more mission. It is hand in hand of you giving your donation and wanting to know exactly where it goes. We have specific services. Our cancer survivors’ network is a ten-dollar donation, so if you buy a luminaria bag, you are going to connect to survivors together to support each other. A twenty-five-dollar donation can have some free answers, talking to an ACS team member live, 24 hours, 7 days a week,” says Dutton.
“We also have a program, Road to Recovery. People can donate fifty dollars and that would cover a ride to treatment and return them home. We have our Hope Lodge. When you have to travel away from home and need a place to stay, a lot of our large healthcare facilities, we have Hope Lodges. That is a seventy-dollar donation for one free night for a patient and their caregiver,” Dutton adds.
