Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 19th, 2026:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior girls soccer player, Alexei Maxymczak. Lexy kicked home the game-winning goal in a non-conference game in Keokuk, Iowa. Her shot with 14 minutes left in the match hit the back of the Chiefs net and gave the Titans their first win of the season. It was the lone goal in a 1-0 defensive battle.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls track and field athlete, Sophia Mendoza. Sophia brought home two medals from two very competitive meets. She took 2nd in the discus event at the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invitational. Sophia also placed second at the John Levingston Invite, with her throw of just under 115′ setting a new school record.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman baseball player, Sam Deverell. Sam added to his specatacular season with a great day at the plate in a non-conference game at Camp Point Central. He went 3-for-4, scoring two runs, driving in two runs and smashing a double in the game. Sam showed his speed, also, stealing a total of three bases on the day.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Noah Nalley. Noah smashed two home runs in a Streak’s win over Rock Island Alleman. He ended the game 2-for-3 at the plate. Noah also helped out in the on the mound, as well, pitching a scoreless inning and recording a strikeout.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys track and field athlete, Kadyn McCann. Kadyn posted a plethora of top-10 finishes last week, in a variety of ways. At the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Invitational, he was 5th in the shot put and 8th in the high jump. Kadyn was even better at the Princeville Invite, placing 3rd in the shot put and high jump and adding a 2nd place in the long jump.
