Mr. David Ryan Pruett, 52, of Cameron, Illinois died at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

He was born on June 3, 1973, in Chula Vista, California, the son of David Edward and Laura (Kempster) Pruett. He married Amy Ennis in 2013 in Cameron, Illinois.

Surviving is his father, David E. Pruett of Cameron; his mother and stepfather, Laura and Michael McGillivray of Florida; two stepdaughters, Alison DePauw of Galesburg and Sydney DePauw of St. Louis, Missouri; and a brother-in-law, Brad Ramp of Florida. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Dortch Pruett, and a sister, Regan Ramp.

David graduated from Galesburg High School in 1991. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1991 to 1998 and was stationed in several locations, including Okinawa, Japan. After his military service, David worked for the City of Galesburg as a mechanic for more than 28 years. He was a member of the A.F.S.C.M.E. Union and the N.R.A.

David enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and target shooting. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He also had a great love for animals, especially his dogs, Wilson and Sonny.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Military rites will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. by the Knox County Honor Guard. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society.
