The United Red Storm softball season is starting to wind down, with just six games remaining in the regular season.
The Red Storm stayed busy this past week, getting five games in. They kicked things off last Tuesday with a solid 12-9 win over West Prairie.
United then hit a rough stretch, dropping their next four games to Bureau Valley, Mercer County, and a doubleheader against ROWVA/Williamsfield.
The Red Storm had a bounce-back night last night at 3A Galesburg, taking a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the sixth before lightning put a stop to the game.
That game is now set to resume Friday on Galesburg’s new artificial turf field, with United looking to secure the win with a little over an inning to play.
United currently sits at 6-20 after an up-and-down week, but Head Coach Mike Maguire says his team’s goals are still within reach.
The Red Storm will enjoy a couple days off before getting back on the diamond Thursday at Galva, looking to pick up an LTC cross-division win.
Then, United will turn their attention back to Galesburg on Friday, where they will look to finish off the resumed game against the Silver Streak.
