It’s time to gear up for acreage reportings! Mike Moore discusses more information about those reportings, new updates that have been released regarding the farm bill, and more.
“So right now, we’re gearing up for the acreage reporting’s, so getting FSA and report your acres there, and then get a hold with your agent, get your acres reported. This biggest thing, kind of new information and that was released, I think, maybe last week. Secretary Rollins released a press release that the farm bill-based acre updates are happening. They started June 1st and they go until August 31st. It is an automatic update unless the landowner opts out. So, they have sent out letters or postcards to everyone explaining all that. The letters do have, if you are getting updated acres, it has what those acres potentially could be. They are not going to say for sure until after August 31st what they are, because if people opt out, those acre updates are going to change. But, if you have any questions contact the FSA office, they can get you that information if you haven’t gotten the letter yet, they can kind of steer you in the right direction there.”
