Kenneth L. Boyer, 84, of Monmouth, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Maple Hill Senior Living, Monmouth.

He was born on March 15, 1942, in Keokuk, IA, the son of Willard M. and Amelia E. (Walker) Boyer. He was raised and educated in Memphis, MO and graduated from Memphis High School in 1960. He later attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Kenneth married Judith K. McIntyre on December 5, 1965, in Monmouth, and she passed away on February 7, 2017.

Kenneth worked for many years in the warehouse at Dick Blick Company in Galesburg, retiring after 44½ years of service. He enjoyed hunting and camping in his younger years and found great satisfaction in spending time outdoors. He especially loved mowing the lawn and took pride in keeping his own yard and those of his customers looking their best throughout the mowing season. Family was very important to Kenny, and he rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events. Whether cheering on his granddaughter at volleyball, basketball, and softball games or supporting his grandsons on the baseball field, he was always a devoted fan. Kenny was also a dedicated supporter of United Athletics, continuing to attend many home games even after his granddaughter’s graduation. His unwavering support will be fondly remembered.  Kenneth was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.

Surviving Kenneth are his children, Scott Boyer of Monmouth, IL, Brenda Cornell of Alexis, IL; two grandsons, Jon & Brian Boyer, and his granddaughter, Kaylee Cornell; and brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Nancy Clayton of Monmouth, IL, and sister-in-law, Jackie Boyer of Clermont, FL.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother, Larry Boyer.    

A celebration of life will be from 11:00am-1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026 at the First United Methodist Church in Monmouth.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the First United Methodist Church of Monmouth and can be sent to the funeral home.   McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
