As scammers continue to adapt their methods, staying informed is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself against fraud and recognize common red flags, emphasizes Midwest Bank President Aaron Jensen:

“A lot of fraud growing in our community and through our banking relationships; washed checks or electronic banking fraud. It is not just increasing as far as frequency or the amount, but the dollar amounts involved. We are working to educate our customers this summer on being alert and aware are careful. If your gut tells you that something doesn’t feel right, you’re probably correct. Pause, step back, and ask a few questions.
