Mrs. Sharon Louise Chockley, 86, of Galesburg, Illinois, formerly of rural Oneida, passed away peacefully at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones at Seminary Manor in Galesburg.

She was born August 26, 1939, in Thompson Lake, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Louise (Cameron) Keefauver. She married Josiah “Joe” Chockley on June 14, 1958, in Springfield, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2009, after 51 beautiful years of marriage.

Surviving are her two sons, Gregory (Bobbi) Chockley of Galesburg and David Chockley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; one brother, Rodney (Theresa) Keefauver of Cold Spring, Minnesota; one sister, Judy Bloyd of Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren, Laryssa (Matthew) Hoosen and Rylee (Zach) Nichols both of Knoxville, Illinois; and four great-grandchildren, Summerlyn Hoosen, Ty Hoosen, Jaxson Nichols, and Levi Nichols. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Tanner Chockley, in 2015, and a brother-in-law, Gary Bloyd.

Sharon attended V.I.T. Junior-Senior High School in Fulton County, Illinois, graduating with the Class of 1957. She later made her family’s home near Oneida, Illinois, where she spent more than 40 years. Sharon worked as a school bus driver for the R.O.V.A. School District for over 20 years. She was fondly remembered by generations of students for celebrating the last day of each school year by giving every child on her route a super large candy bar. Sharon was also known for tending her beautiful gardens, being an avid collector of chicken figurines, and for the love and care she devoted to her grandchildren and family.

A Graveside Service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at East Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg.  Sharon will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Joe, and her grandson, Tanner Chockley. Chaplain Jordan Knight will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon’s memory to Easterseals. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services, Galesburg Chapel, is honored to serve Sharon’s family during their time of need.
