CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Two members of the Central Warren Fire Protection District recently completed four days of intensive training at the University of Illinois Fire Service Institute Cadet & Explorer School, gaining valuable hands-on experience while expanding their firefighting knowledge and skills.
Explorer Bentlee Cook and probationary firefighter Parker Scott participated in a demanding schedule of classroom instruction and realistic hands-on scenarios designed to prepare the next generation of firefighters.
Throughout the four-day program, they trained in forcible entry, ground ladders, rope rescue and rappelling, hose advancement, live fire attack, search and rescue, fire behavior, auto extrication, and a full day of live burn evolutions. The training challenged participants both physically and mentally while reinforcing teamwork, leadership, and safe fireground operations.
As an added highlight, Cook and Scott had the opportunity to meet Herman and Tony from the television series Chicago Fire, making an already memorable experience even more special.
The Central Warren Fire Protection District is proud of both members for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to learning. Their willingness to continually improve their skills reflects the district’s commitment to providing exceptional service to the communities it protects.
The district is also looking toward the future by growing its Fire Explorer Program. Young men and women interested in learning more about the fire service, developing leadership skills, and gaining hands-on experience are encouraged to get involved.
