Ferman D. Shryack, 91, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026 at the Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria, IL.

He was born on August 8, 1934 in Macomb, IL, the son of Lawson & Georgianna (Fawcett) Shryack.  Ferman was raised and educated in Macomb and graduated Macomb High School in 1952.

Ferman proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 with B Battery, 195th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 4th Armored Division. During his military service, he was stationed in Germany for 18 months.

In September of 1959, Ferman married Darlene K. Wayland in Chicago, IL. Together they had a family before later divorcing.

Ferman lived in Macomb, Cicero, and Galesburg before settling in Monmouth, IL, in 1963, where he raised his family. He worked as the groundskeeper at Monmouth Country Club from 1963 to 1967, then at Gambles Warehouse from 1967 to 1982. He later worked at Maytag in Galesburg, where he remained until retiring in 1999.

Since 1996, Ferman has shared his life with his soulmate, Barb. Together they enjoyed more than 20 years as members of Gibson Woods Golf Course, where they spent countless happy days on the course, often driving the golf cart in search of their golf balls. They also loved visiting casinos and taking short trips to Branson, Missouri, creating many cherished memories together.  Ferman was an avid Chicago Bears & Cubs fan and enjoyed woodworking and painting in his spare time.

Survived by his loving life partner of 30 years, Barb Lung of Monmouth, IL; son, Stephen (Angie) Shryack of Monmouth, IL; daughter Amy (Jamie) Stratton of Cedar Rapids, IA; granddaughter, Alexis (Nick) Maas; and 4 great grandkids of Deerfield, WI.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
