Martha A. German, 88, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, died on Friday, July 24, 2026, in Federal Way, Washington, following a short illness.

She was born November 18, 1937, in Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of William LeRoy and Ruth Helen (Hedden) Fitchpatrick. She married Donald D. German Sr. on July 3, 1955, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2015, after more than 60 years of marriage.

She is survived by two sons, LeRoy (Paula) German of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Gary (Lisa) German of Tacoma, Washington; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Donald D. German Jr. and Richard A. German; three brothers, George Fitchpatrick, Robert “Bob” Fitchpatrick, and William “Bill” Fitchpatrick Jr.; and a sister, Eloise “Kathy” Katherine Dodd.

She had worked at the former Belscott’s and Protexall. Martha’s main work life was spent being a personal assistant for 20 years before retiring. She was an active member of Galesburg First Church of the Nazarene. She also volunteered at nursing homes and at Huachuca Mountain Elementary, where she taught students to crochet. She had lived in Sierra Vista since 2011.

Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services of Galesburg. Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. with Pastor Rollie Grauman officiating. She will be laid to rest next to Donald in East Linwood Cemetery.
