Raymond F. Jacobs, 89, of Galesburg, died at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Seminary Manor.

He was born January 4, 1937, in Geneseo, the son of Raymond S. and Alice (Erne) Jacobs. He married Margo S. Templeton on June 10, 1962, in Galesburg. They enjoyed over 52 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on February 11, 2015.

Surviving is his sister, Mary (Ron) Miller of Geneseo and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Charles Jacobs.

Ray was raised and educated in Geneseo, where he graduated from Geneseo High School in 1955. He went on to graduate from Lincoln Barber College in 1957. He worked as a barber for over 50 years before retiring.

Raymond and Margo lived in Arizona from 1981 until returning to Galesburg in 2006. While living in Sun City, he was an active member of the Elk’s Lodge. He was a member of Central Congregational Church in Galesburg. Ray was a charter member of the Geneseo DeMolay and a member of Alpha Masonic Lodge #155 in Galesburg. Raymond served in the National Guard during peacetime. He enjoyed volunteering with the American Legion and the Salvation Army.

Ray and Margo were avid sports fans, following Geneseo and Galesburg sports. They also enjoyed playing card games and Train Dominoes. In his youth, he played basketball and softball for the Quad City Industrial League.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral and Cremation Services. Funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Jordan Knight officiating. He will be laid to rest next to Margo at East Linwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Geneseo Historical Museum or Hospice Compassus.
