Mrs. Dorothy Mae “Dottie” Tinkham, 84, of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away at 10:46 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, Illinois.
She was born January 9, 1942, in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of William and Clara (Mikel) Moore. She married Ronald Tinkham on October 17, 1958, in Roseville, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Kraig Tinkham of Galesburg and Kory (and Ramona) Tinkham of Avon; one sister, Rae Ann (and Jim) Standard of Monmouth, Illinois; one brother, Jeff (and Chris) Moore of Monmouth, Illinois; five grandchildren, Justin (and Jamelia) Tinkham, Lukas Tinkham, Ty Tinkham, Shayli Florine, and Payton Florine; and three great-grandchildren, Annika Tinkham, Rowan Tinkham, and Walker Tinkham.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ronald Tinkham; her parents; one brother and sister-in-law, William (and Nancy) Moore; and one sister, Marilyn Arch.
Dottie attended schools in Roseville, Illinois. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to caring for her husband and two sons. She enjoyed crocheting, making ceramic crafts, gardening, and tending to her many indoor plants. Dottie was a collector and a giver, especially when it came to cups. At Christmastime, she always had several Christmas trees on display.
Known as the “Princess of Seminary Manor,” Dottie spent the last three years there, enjoying the company of the residents and staff. She loved attending her sons’ and grandchildren’s sporting events. Most of all, she cherished the time she spent with her family.
As Dottie requested, cremation will be accorded. A private committal service will be held at a later date at Abingdon Cemetery in Abingdon, Illinois.
