Another school year is about to begin and Warren-Henderson Ag in the Classroom Educator Anna Sharp is reminding local teachers of the free resources available to incorporate ag topics into lesson plans:
“Our state program is very strong and wonderful. They create some really great resources that we can provide to the teachers for free. As long as the state has them, we can put orders in for things such as our ag mags, we have our little readers, and then we have our fact sheets that are non-fiction about a lot of different topics from kindergarten up through junior high. We do have some readers that I would safely say you could use in high school as well,” says Sharp.
“What I do in our counties, a teacher will schedule me, maybe they will schedule me as a monthly visit, that is kind of what we prefer, or maybe it is quarterly, or maybe during a special topic. It doesn’t just have to be schools and classrooms, I enjoy getting to go talk to clubs and groups outside the school too,” Sharp adds.
Looking ahead, 4th Grade Ag Day for the local students will be held during Prime Beef Festival week, followed by a Farm Safety Day for area 5th Graders, each providing the opportunity for those students to learn about agriculture.
