The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is a voluntary program through the Farm Service Agency that encourages agricultural producers and landowners to convert enviromentally sensitive land from agriculture production to plant vegetative cover. Shawnee Sheehan, Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District Resource Conservationsit shares this year, CRP contracts are ahead of schedule.
“Typically, you’re hearing from us a little bit more into the tail end of August and early September to get signatures, but we’ve just been cooking away on them,” shares Sheehan. “So we’re way ahead of schedule for those. I’ve been calling out on landowners to get you in for signatures, and you guys should hear from me, Emma, and Jennifer for your Warren County contracts definitely over the next couple of weeks to get in and get those signed.”
