Joyce Lucile McCaw, 101, of North Henderson, Illinois, passed away at 8:57 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Joyce was born May 18, 1925, at North Henderson, the daughter of George and Ella (Swanson) Johnson. She graduated from Alexis High School in 1942, attended the American Institute of Commerce in Davenport, IA and worked at Deere & Co. in Moline before her marriage to Richard McCaw at Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson on May 5, 1945.

Joyce was a homemaker and a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, LCW member and officer, Council member, choir member and organist for many years. She was active in 4-H, and a 65 year member of the Mercer County Homemakers. She loved to sew and quilt. Her family, friends, and her church were her life.

She is survived by a daughter, Judi McCaw of Alexis and a son, Joe (Pat) McCaw of New Windsor; four grandchildren, Brad McCaw of London, England, Becky (Mike) Hatlestad of New Windsor, Bob (Amber) and Mike Lair of Alexis; nine great-grandchildren, Brit (Joe), A.J., Kate, Jack, Jake (Pierson), Olivia (Spencer), Ivy, Vivian and Max; many nieces and nephews and very special friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George (Dorothy), Bob (Beverly) and Dick; a sister, Doris (Don) McKelvie and a great-grandson, Coleman Lair.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the Zion Lutheran Church in North Henderson. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Memorial Garden, Galesburg. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church. Moore Memorial Home, Alexis, is handling the arrangements.
