Another school year is about to begin for the Monmouth-Roseville School District. Superintendent Ed Fletcher is reminding parents and students about their cell phone policy:

“We are a cell phone free district. During instructional time, which includes class periods, passing periods, electronic devices must be powered off and out of sight. That includes smart watches and if the kids have Meta glasses. There are avenues in which it could be allowed if a student has an IEP or if there is an emergency,” states Fletcher.

“In grades 9 through 12, students are allowed to use electronic devices during lunch period since we have students off campus. We are reasonable with this, give you an opportunity, but if kids don’t pay attention, they will get a warning or two and then after that there will be some consequences,” Fletcher adds.

As for the Chromebooks, Superintendent Fletcher reports at the Junior High level they will only be used during class when needed, while at the High School the students will be able to carry them around the building for educational purposes.
