We will have two games on Prairieland Media Sports tonight, with both United and Monmouth-Roseville looking to bounce back after dropping their season openers.
Starting with the United Red Storm, they opened the 2026 season last Friday at Bureau Valley in a game that included a two hour weather delay at halftime.
United trailed 14-7 at the break before Bureau Valley pulled away in the third quarter to take a 30-7 lead. The Red Storm offense came alive in the fourth, scoring 20 points, but the comeback fell short as United dropped the opener 36-27.
Head Coach Andrew Goodwin says there were some mistakes to clean up, but also some good things to take away from Week 1.
“We only ran 38 meaningful plays on offense. We had some holes, we had some gains. Callen had some nice runs on scrambles and stuff, but we had three bad snaps too, and that goes towards our rushing yards. It definitely hurts, but if you see it, there’s good things there. We did not communicate as well up front. We did not hit our assignments as well, and we fixed that this week. So hopefully, we can get the run game going. Get Chance, get Bentley, Kellen, and whoever touches the ball. Hopefully, we can get something up front this week.”
United will be at home for the first time this season tonight against Illini West. The Chargers opened their season with a 22-17 win over Princeville.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans also opened their season on the road last week. One year removed from their run to the IHSA quarterfinals, the Titans took on a talented Erie-Prophetstown squad that returned several starters from last season.
After a two-hour weather delay, Erie-Prophetstown returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. The Titans answered right back and took an 8-6 lead before the Panthers regained the advantage late in the first quarter.
Monmouth-Roseville trailed 18-16 at halftime. Both defenses held strong in a scoreless third quarter before Erie-Prophetstown pushed its lead to 24-16 in the fourth. The Titans responded with a 97-yard touchdown, but were unable to convert the two-point try as they fell 24-22.
Now the attention turns to another tough opponent in Rockridge, who opened their season with a 31-27 win over Kewanee.
Head Coach Jeremy Adolphson shares what he expects from the Week 2 matchup.
“Rockridge is kind of like us, where they’ve lost a lot of guys and they don’t have set replacements at this point. They’ve got top-end guys that are fantastic, again, like us. So I think this week comes down to stars versus stars for sure. But also, how much better did those guys who got experience really for the first time last week get? I’m expecting a heck of a fight between two teams that, you know, someone’s going to get themselves righted tonight against another quality opponent. Find a way to get one here Week 2 and move on.”
