Cheryl L. Johnson, 82, formerly of Victoria and Galesburg, passed away at 10:13 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the Knox County Nursing Home.
Cheryl was born May 6, 1944, in Galesburg, the daughter of Orville and Ruth (Strode) Dunbar. She married Roger L. Johnson on December 28, 1963, in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2007.
Cheryl is survived by her sons, Braden (Tammi) Johnson of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Shawn (Stacy) Johnson of Victoria, Shannon (Penny) Johnson of Colona, and Cary (Cyndi) Johnson of Victoria; 15 grandchildren, Alex, Elise, Ethan, Austin (Lexi), Cory (Allison), Colton, Jake, Courtney (Rene), Amber, Seth, Jared (Megan), Jenny (Lance), Jacy, Megan (Tyler), and Tyler (Jaime); and seven great grandchildren, Atalie, Campbell, Ridge, Adler, Ladd, Ely, and Rylan. In addition to her husband, her parents preceded her in death.
Cheryl was a dedicated homemaker for her family. She also helped with the family trucking and farming operation by keeping the books.
She was an active member of the Radiant Worship Center, formerly First Church of the Open Bible, in Galesburg, where she served as an Elder for six years, and was a teacher for Wednesday night small group meetings. Cheryl enjoyed knitting and sewing and playing golf. She served as the past president of the Junior Women’s Club. Those who knew her know she loved to shop.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Radiant Worship Center. Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mark Dexter officiating. Burial will be with Roger in Westfall Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Cheryl’s name may be made to the Radiant Worship Center.
