The Recharge Teen Center in Monmouth continues to see an increase in the number of students they serve between the ages of 13-19 from the Monmouth-Roseville and United School Districts. Coordinator Amy Rogers says they are able to be a valuable resource for academic support and homework assistance:
“We are lucky enough to be able to have Jess Ferguson on our staff, she is the Assistant Coordinator. She also serves as our Academic Liaison for the kids. She keeps her teaching certificate up to date and is certified to help in any subject they are needing help with.”
Rogers says students also learn how to cook, participate in art projects and they have an opportunity to learn more about careers through Sandburg’s careers exploration process. Recently students learned about Mortuary Science through local Funeral Home Director and Illinois Funeral Home President, Trevor Davies of McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory in Monmouth. The Recharge Teen Center is now accepting donations for after school snacks and hygiene products.
