Here’s the first WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending August 30th, 2026:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Reese Anderson. Reese filled up the stat sheet at the Wethersfield Flying Geese Invitational. She totaled a team-leading 16 kills and 6 service aces, as well as handing out 24 assists and hustling her way to 13 digs. Those numbers were enough to put Reese on the All-Tournament team.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore football player, Wyatt Bockelman. What a great start to the season at wide receiver for Wyatt. In the Red Storm’s first two games, he’s caught seven passes for an amazing 268 yards. Wyatt took two of those catches into the endzone.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is freshman boys golfer, Mason Crum. Mason has begun his high school golf career in fantastic fashion. In his first tournament at Midland Golf Course, he shot an 18-hole score of 85. That was good enough to put Mason in a tie for 4th place out of 68 total golfers.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Grady Hickey. Grady has been outstanding throwing the football for the Streaks in the early going. In two games so far, he has thrown for nearly 600 yards. Grady has tossed six touchdowns and with just one interception.
The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Ryker Darst. Ryker has contributed in a multitude of ways already this season. He rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns in an opening week win against West Hancock. On defense, Ryker has 15 total tackles, with an interception and a fumble recovery.
