Barbara Ann Pratt, 85, of Galesburg, died at 9 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2026, at home.

She was born June 23, 1941, in Beardstown, Illinois, the daughter of Onie Agusta (Lindsey) Hay Brown.

She is survived by her best friend and companion, Beth Newswander; a daughter, Janet “Boo” Pratt of Monmouth; her beloved pups, Johnny and Cash; chosen children, Joetta and Mark Smith and Mark Roach; grandchildren, Austin Roach, Cameron Smith, and Carissa Smith; and several nieces and nephews, including Lori and Joe Brasmer. She was preceded in death by her mother and siblings, Norma Jean Mayes, Wanda Walters, Roxine Dosier, Fonzy Hay, Von Hay, Blane Hay, Bonnie Nelson Hay, and her twin brother, Robert Hay.

Barbara had lived in California and Oregon for some time. She had worked in factories, was a taxicab driver, was a bartender, and managed an RV Park in Oregon. Barbara was a self-taught guitarist and was artistic, creating beautiful drawings. She loved to gamble, whether at the boat or at a restaurant/bar. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Cremation will be accorded. There will be no visitation or service. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice Compassus.
