Doris A. Tatman, 92, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Seminary Manor in Galesburg, IL.
She was born March 22, 1934, in New London, IA, the daughter of Claude and Goldie (Finch) Harmon. She was raised and educated in Biggsville, graduating from Biggsville High School in 1952.
Doris married Pete Tatman on December 31, 1954. He proceeded her in death on, June 17, 1979.
She worked as a CNA locally for many years, she managed the Welcome Inn and also provided private home health care. Doris later worked at Wilson Foods in Monmouth. Doris was a very proud Union member, serving as the Union Secretary for Wilson Foods for many years.
In her younger days, Doris loved to host, cook and bake for her family and friends. She was known for her delicious potato salad. Doris also enjoyed shopping. Most of all, she found the greatest pleasure and enjoyment in time spent with her grand and great grandchildren.
Survivors include, her daughters, Shirley (Mark) Dehle and Sherry (Chris Kidd) Tatman; Grandchildren, Shawna (Tim) Smith, Cory (Sarah) Mitchell, Brooke Crespo, Zackary (Audreona) Nelson and Paige Nelson; Great Grandchildren, Cody (Chrissy) Tatman, Jacob Morales, Alexis Morales, Jr. Morales, Mykenzie (Xavier) Woodbury, Carson Mitchell, Sloane Nelson, Manvel Sanchez, Ava Crespo, Max Crespo and Kealsey Smith; and Great Great Grandchildren, Aalyiah Tatman, Nova Tatman, Bentlee Tatman, Colson Tatman and Ripley Smith Stoltz.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, and her husband.Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family interment of ashes will be in Monmouth Cemetery at a later date. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Foundation and can be sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
