With Medicare open enrollment right around the corner, beneficiaries will soon be given the chance to review their coverage options for the coming year, according to Way Insurance Services Owner Missie Shepherd:
“If you are on Medicare, we are rolling into the annual enrollment period. We are finally getting the data. We are finally going to see, officially, the 2027 plans. We can start to talk about those benefits with our clients. We have been getting sneak peeks,” shares Shepherd.
“Also, I want to clarify what products this applies to. It applies to Medicare Part C and Part D only. Part C is Medicare Advantage and Part D is your Prescription Drug Coverage. The annual enrollment period technically does not apply to your Medicare Supplement. Your Supplement may renew January 1st, but it also may renew on the anniversary date of whenever you bought it. It does not actually fall under the rules for the annual enrollment period, where an open enrollment period you go pick your plan. Treat your Supplement separate from your drug card. Then if you have Medicare Advantage, of course, you don’t have a Medicare Supplement,” Shepherd adds.
Medicare open enrollment begins October 15th and runs through December 7th.
