(MONMOUTH, ILL). Week 7 of the 2026 IHSA football schedule saw the Monmouth-Roseville Titans back at home at Coach Dobry Field in Monmouth, welcoming in an unfamiliar opponent on senior night. M-R was originally slated to play Three Rivers Conference rival Sherrard in this spot, however with Sherrard cancelling their varsity football season at the beginning of the year, the Titans were left searching to fill a big game as the Titans only had two more home games to fit in their fall senior night festivities. The Titans were able to find that opponent however, as the Chicago Little Village Phoenix agreed to take the 3 hour trip south to play on Friday night. Despite the games early kickoff of 5:30, Monmouth-Roseville was not thrown off their game in the slightest, as they would cruise to a 59-0 shutout win to bring their overall record up to 4-3 on the season.
Senior running back Lars Bergren got the offense going very early, after a blocked punt set M-R up with great field position. Bergren took the Titans first play from scrimmage 28 yards to the end zone to give Monmouth-Roseville the 7-0 lead. Little Village’s next offensive possession also ended quickly with a punt, setting the Titans rushing attack up to move their way down the field, ultimately scoring on a 12 yard touchdown run from senior back Landon Montroy. Special teams miscues continued to plague the Phoenix in the first quarter, as a fumble on the ensuing kickoff gave the Titans back the ball on the 16, leading to a second Bergren touchdown to extend the Titans lead to 21-0. Monmouth-Roseville wouldn’t be quite done adding to their first quarter scoring run, as junior running-back Zane Mason got in on the touchdown party, taking a 51 yard run to the house bringing the Titans lead to 28-0 to end a dominant first quarter from big blue. The second quarter of play started in a very similar way for Monmouth-Roseville as Lars Bergren got the quarter scoring started with his 3rd touchdown of the night, this time from 41 yards out to go up 34-0. Continuing the theme of great special teams play, Titans junior Rogan Rexroat came away with the teams third takeaway of the game, stripping punter Angel Soriano of the ball on a fake punt, setting M-R’s offense up deep inside Phoenix territory. Junior Henrik Bergren would take advantage on the ensuing possession, punching the ball in from 4 yards out to push their lead into running clock territory at 41-0. A Ty Moore 6 yard touchdown, then a Henrik Bergren 18 yard touchdown would round out the scoring in the final minutes of the first half, giving the Titans a 53-0 advantage heading into the locker room.
A running clock in the second half would speed up the rest of the game, but that didn’t stop Monmouth-Roseville from adding on to their total. Hunter Conchas became the 6th Titan to get in the end zone on a two yard touchdown run in the third quarter, which would bring the game to its final resting score of 59-0. Titan Statbook: The M-R rushing attack was once again humming all game for the Titans, as Lars Bergren led the way with 112 yards and 3 touchdowns on just 5 carries. Landon Montroy added 43 yards and a score on 3 carries, while Zayn Mason, Henrik Bergren, Ty Moore, and Hunter Conchas all found their way to paydirt on the ground. The now 4-3 Titans have two games left in the regular season, and they are both big ones. Next Friday night will see Monmouth-Roseville on the road in Kewanee for a matchup that could determine the champion or potential co-champions in the Three Rivers Conference Mississippi Division. October 16th will mark the Titans final game, at home against the Orion Chargers for homecoming night.
