The Calvary Baptist Church in Monmouth celebrated a major milestone this year, marking 160 years of serving their congregation and local community, shares Reverend Dr. Melvin Grimes:
“On September 27th of this year, we celebrated our 160th church anniversary. With the exception of a brief period of time when the church was on Boston, the church has been located on the corner of First Street and Ninth Avenue. It was an awesome milestone, on top of the fact that we burned the mortgage on the second building that has been constructed at that site. We dedicated the fellowship hall in honor of Marian Burke, who was a longtime member and grew up in the church.”
On Thursday, November 5th, the Calvary Baptist Church, located at 1000 South First Street in Monmouth, is hosting their annual Turkey Dinner fundraiser from 11 am to 6 pm. Dine-in or takeout meals will be available for a $15 donation.
