Patou “Muipatayi” Mpinda, 44, of Monmouth, IL, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Smithfield Foods, Monmouth, IL.

Patou M. Mpinda was born on August 17, 1982, in Kinshasa, DR Congo, to Mr. Paulin Kalonji Muipatayi and Mrs. Maguy Mishika Mpinda. He grew up in Kinshasa and earned his high school diploma from ACS Minzoto Akhenaton in 2001. He continued his studies at the Higher Institute of Applied Techniques “ISTA-Ndolo” and earned his degree as a technical engineer in electronics. Patou was also a dedicated judoka and a member of the Saint Paul dojo, where he achieved the rank of black belt, Xth dan. After moving to the USA, he completed additional training, including welding at the Technical College in Moline, IL. He worked at Smithfield foods from 2011 until his passing.

Patou had been married to Beya Boliaka Boss since August 22, 2016, and was the father of four children: Patou Mpinda Junior, Maguy Mpinda Mishika, Kedjune Mpinda Disanka, and Sky Mpinda Makanda. He was a spiritual man who listened deeply to God’s message and lived his Christian faith with humility, kindness and generosity. Known for his warm nature, Patou formed friendships easily and was loved by many in the community.

Patou was someone truly devoted to his family, the 8th child in a large family. He kept close relationships with his parents, as well as his brothers and sisters.

Funeral Services will be 10:00am – 1:00pm, Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the First Christian Church, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth. Visitation will be from 10:00am – 12:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, October 23, 2026, at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Memorials may be given to the Patou M. Mpinda Memorial Fund and sent to the funeral home.
