Do You Suffer From Dry, Itchy Eyes?

Share

The spring season is here. With it comes allergies, which can cause itchy, dry, tearing, or redness of the eyes. Dr. Ally Braet at Kehoe Eye Care shares how symptoms can be addressed, especially for children:

“For really mild allergies, you can start by using cool compresses on your eyes to calm things down. If that is really not doing anything, there are a lot different types of allergy drops that can really help the symptoms. Often times even just using the drops like once a day can really help symptoms. Really young kids who are itching their eyes a lot, I always opt for the cool compresses first; don’t love using a lot of medication on the young ones. If you are doing the cool compresses and are still getting a lot of swelling and rubbing and itching, definitely let us know.”

If you experience sensitivity to light, Dr. Braet says that could be more of an infection of the eye, rather than allergies.
