On June 2nd at approximately 5:30 AM, an accident occurred on US 67 at 280th Avenue involving a garbage truck and a passenger van. Five people in the van were transported for treatment, two by medical helicopter.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Edwards says drivers need to give themselves a little extra time and stay safe behind the wheel.
“Really need to obey the speed limit, drive defensively, and not pass in a no-passing zone. Those are just a myriad of infractions we either get complaints about or sometimes see ourselves. Particularly with 67 North, there is a stop light set up now around the Gerlaw turn off. It is going to take a little bit longer to get down 67 than it has in the past with all the construction. If you can find an alternate route, I would suggest you take it. But if you are on 67, be mindful of the flaggers and the fact that it is going to be backed up. At a minimum, drive the speed limit, or maybe consider driving under it, and drive defensively.”
Both crashes are being investigated by Illinois State Police.
