Roger James Hartshorn, 80, of Galesburg, died at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Allure of Knox County in Galesburg.

He was born April 9, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Henry S. and Rose M. (Baxter) Hartshorn. Roger worked as a mover for Mayflower for several years. He later worked as a custodian for his brother’s tavern for about 7 years. Roger married Alice F. Hoff on June 26, 1982 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on December 5, 2018.

Roger is survived by one son, Chad Hartshorn of Galesburg; one daughter, Amy Mathews of Galesburg; several grandchildren; three brothers: Jim (Linda) Hartshorn and Robert Hartshorn, both of Galesburg, and Bill (Sherri) Hartshorn of Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; and one sister, Pam Ditgen of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Richard and Ronald Hartshorn.

Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
