Monmouth College Men’s Basketball Chance to Wrap Up Outright MWC Regular Season Title

Share

The Monmouth College men’s basketball team has already clinched at least a share of the Midwest Conference regular season championship. The Fighting Scots gutted out a 78-73 road win at Ripon College on Saturday. The victory gave Monmouth a (12-2) record in league play with two games left to play before the Midwest Conference Tournament starts on February 28th. With that goal checked off the list, next up is clinching an outright title and a chance to host the tournament on their home floor. The Scots will have two more chances in the regular season to do that, with both of those chances being at home. Monmouth will host Cornell College on Wednesday night at Glennie Gym on the Monmouth campus and then welcome the Grinnell “System” to town on Saturday afternoon.

Cornell has plenty to play for tonight, as well. They are tied for the fourth and final tournament spot in 4th place at (8-6) with Ripon College and Lake Forest College.

Currently sporting an 8-game winning streak, Monmouth head coach Todd Skrivseth says his ball club is playing pretty good basketball and wants to wrap up the outright title against Cornell.

We’ll have the Scots home game against Cornell College on Wednesday on the PCSN. Our AM 1330/FM 95.7 WRAM pregame show will hit the air following the women’s game at around 7:10, tip-off is scheduled for 7:30. You can hear it on the radio, online at radiomonmouth.com or on our free 1330 WRAM app for your smartphone or tablet.
