Chronic, non-healing wounds left untreated can cause serious complications. The OSF Wound Care Clinic, located at the Holy Family Medical Center campus in Monmouth, allows patients to seek treatment without a referral from their primary care provider, explains Director of OSF Wound Care, Audra Baker:
“We actually see all patients, all ages. Our typical patient population, they might have some venous disease, some arterial disease, maybe they are a person living with diabetes. We have patients who have heart disease, heart failure, blood flow issues, or maybe people who aren’t very ambulatory, they can’t move very well and they can develop some pressure ulcers. If your wound is not healing 50 percent or it doesn’t look like it is healing within a couple of weeks, that is really when to come see us. You do need an appointment, but we do not need a referral to make that appointment.”
In 2024, the OSF Wound Care Clinic received two prestigious Healogics awards for the second year in a row, which were the Robert A. Warriner, III Award for Clinical Excellence and the Center of Distinction Award.
