Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate. Those are the principles followed and used when conducting ALICE training to educate proactive tactics, which Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer informs was recently conducted at Monmouth College:
“We did an initial meeting with Monmouth College to get their feet wet on what happens during an ALICE drill or what they need to do for an event like that. We will be coordinating with them in the future to take more of that knowledge there. We would like to see one of their staff members get trained and I believe one or two of them are actually going to go get the ALICE training to be certified in it, that way they can teach it in house.”
Chief Switzer reports Officer Larry Myers, who is currently serving as the School Resource Officer in the Monmouth-Roseville School District, will also be attending ALICE training to get certified as an instructor.
