This coming Monday, December 15th is the deadline to enroll for health insurance coverage to start January 1, 2026. In Illinois, Marketplace health plans have transitioned to a state-based platform. Eagle View Community Health System Navigator Nancy Kucharz breaks down the available options:

“When we first started looking at the plans, there are actually Gold Plans that are coming up. On the Marketplace there are Bronze, Silver, and Gold; the Bronze being 60/40, Silver is 70/30, and Gold 80/20. If you do qualify for tax credit, the Gold Plans are coming up at incredible prices, enrolling sometimes anywhere between $3 to $20. You are looking at an 80/20 plan that is a PPO, decent deductible, decent maximum out of pocket, and so forth; that has been a real plus.”
