Planning for your family’s future can be one of the most important steps you take to protect not only your operation, but your loved ones. On February 19th, the University of Illinois Extension and the McDonough County Farm Bureau will host a Farm Succession Seminar to give participants insight into the legal aspects of farm transition.

Extension’s Wendy Ferguson shares that this year’s event will feature two speakers, including Ryan Krisher of Bougher, Krisher & Clark, Attorneys at Law, and Meagan Diss, Commercial Agriculture Specialist with the University of Illinois Extension.

“This is a great opportunity for any of our farming community members who are looking to make sure their farm legacy is taken care of and that they have a plan for navigating succession from one generation to the next,” says Ferguson. “For this program, we’re going to have an attorney who specializes in the legal aspects of farm succession, Ryan Krisher, and our commercial ag specialist, Meagan Diss, there to help walk through and explore the different aspects you need to consider when transferring or transitioning your farm to the next generation.”

The Navigating Farm Succession seminar will take place from 6–8 p.m. on Thursday, February 19th, at the McDonough County 4-H Building. Register ahead of time by visiting the Extension website.
