Story by Parker Cassidy

The United Red Storm softball team packed a lot into last week, getting three games in despite a rough stretch of weather.

United opened the week with a trip to Rushville-Industry, taking one on the chin 13-3. They then dropped a close one in their home opener to the LVC co-op made up of the Lewistown and North Fulton districts, 12-9. The Red Storm wrapped up the week on the road Saturday against the Macomb Bombers. United trailed 6-2 after five innings but came roaring back in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs to tie the game at six.

The Red Storm couldn’t find another run, as Macomb walked it off in the bottom of the seventh.

Head Coach Mike Maguire says despite the tough stretch, his team is making major strides.

United stays busy this week, returning to action tonight at home against South Fulton. The Red Storm will then travel to Farmington on Thursday before coming back home Saturday to host Rockridge.
