As the weather continues to warm up, that means more baseball and softball around the area.
This also gives you the perfect chance to check out the brand new Developing New Athletes or DNA facility in Galesburg and Monmouth. The facility offers hitting and pitching lessons for players of all ages looking to take their game to the next level.
Co-owner Brent Dugan shares more.
“We have a warehouse. It’s part of the BBI building over on Monmouth Boulevard, 1255 Monmouth Boulevard in Galesburg, Illinois. We’ve got an 80 by 90 facility with turf down, and we’ve got two cages set up. We’re doing pitching lessons, we’re going to do fielding lessons, and we’re going to have clinics. Right now, we’re just doing individual workouts.
We have anywhere from six to eight kids an hour at times doing various things, mainly hitting. Obviously, those hours are jam packed, and we keep them moving and break them down. They’re getting live swings with their teams during town leagues or traveling leagues, so we try to break them down with more individualized things that are going to help them become a good hitter at some point.
I always tell the parents, it’s going to click at some point. We just want to be there for it. Sometimes the light kind of flickers for a while before it goes on, but there are times where it clicks really quick, other times we just have to be a little more patient with it.”
