United Red Storm Football Unable to Hold Early Lead in Loss to Illini West

The United Red Storm took on the Illini West Chargers in an IHSA Week Two matchup. Despite leading through nearly the entire first half, the Red Storm came up short, losing by a final score of 38-24. United would get on the board first on a Kellen Boone to Ryker Trego 30 yard touchdown pass. United would keep the lead at 12-8 at the half and still led 18-8 early in the 3rd quarter. Illini West would score the next 30 points of the game to lead 38-18 and essentially put the game away. Leading United in the stat categories, Red Storm stat leaders tonight in the rushing category, Quarterback Kellen Boone had 14 carries for 146 yards. Cohen Sperry chipped in 15 carries for 82 yards. Passing-wise, Boone was 7 of 16 for 182 yards, one interception, and three touchdowns. Leading United in receiving was Carter Olson with three catches for 34 yards, Colin Leary had one catch for 51 yards, Ryker Trego one catch for 31 yards, Wyatt Stockdale hauled in one catch for 45 yards and Wyatt Bockelman had one catch for 10 yards. Next week, the (0-2) Red Storm will host the Stark County Rebels at United High School. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. (2-0) Illini West will host ROWVA/Williamsfield.
