Prairieland Media Sports Director Shawn Temple is being recognized for his work covering high school athletics across the area.
Temple has been named the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Media Relations Person of the Year and will be honored during the organization’s awards banquet on December 5th at the Embassy Suites in Naperville.
United High School Assistant Principal and Head Baseball Coach Ryan Molek, who also serves on the IHSBCA Board, surprised Temple with the announcement earlier today.
Temple says the recognition means even more because of his lifelong connection to baseball.
“Awards are great. I mean, awards are really nice. It’s awesome for anybody to be recognized for what they do, especially for what they love. But when it comes to baseball, and I say it all the time, I’m a baseball guy through and through. I’m unapologetically a big baseball fan, so this means even more. It’s very, very cool.”
Temple has spent years covering high school athletics across the area, from broadcasts and interviews to keeping up with local teams throughout each season.
The award will be presented as part of the IHSBCA Coaches Clinic and banquet weekend December 4th and 5th in Naperville.
