Gary G. Bayles, 81, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 2:25 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his home.

He was born on November 15, 1941 in Rushville, IL, the son of Jerry and Ruth (Olander) Bayles.  Gary was raised in Rushville and moved to Monmouth when he was in high school.  He graduated from Monmouth High School in 1959. 

Gary served in the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict in Germany as an Intercept Operator. 

Gary married Shirley Ryner on April 22, 1961 in Monmouth, IL; she survives. 

Gary worked as a sales and finance manager at several auto dealerships around the state.  He loved to travel, and was an avid Chicago Bears, St. Louis Cardinals, and Warren Warriors fan.  Gary was of the Presbyterian faith.  Most of all, Gary love to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

Surviving Gary is his wife, Shirley (Ryner) Bayles of Monmouth, IL; his children, Tracey (Bayles) Damewood of Cameron, IL, Dennis Bayles of Key West, FL; five grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Bayles, Jacob Bayles, Danielle Bayles, Mandy (Ross) Hall, Jenna Damewood; and nine great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, David Bayles; two brothers, Ron and Lyle Bayles; his mother-in-law & father-in-law, Ida and Carroll Ryner.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2023 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL.   Cremation rites have been accorded.  Interment will be in Monmouth Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the Gary Bayles Memorial Fund.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
