Leonard V. Strand, 88, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at the home of his granddaughter, Emily. 

He was born on April 23, 1934 in Woodhull. He was the son of Arnold and Marie (Roach) Strand. Leonard married the love of his life, Karol J. McCaffery on December 12, 1953 in Muscatine Iowa. Together they celebrated a life of almost 69 years before she preceded him in death on October 28, 2022. 

Surviving Leonard are one daughter, Diane (Bob) Pennicuff of Barnwell, South Carolina, two sons, Marc (Lynne) Strand of Oglesby, Illinois and David (Kay) Strand of Belvedere, South Carolina; sister, Shirley (Darrel) Johnson of Macomb; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Karol, his parents and great granddaughter, Bryley Karol Robison.

Leonard was a 1953 graduate of Alwood High School. He delivered bread for 42 years working for a private bakery, then Sunbeam and retiring from Butternut. He enjoyed bowling, golf leagues, helping his friends on the farm, and served as the volunteer mailman at Cottage Hospital for many years after retirement. He was a long-standing, faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church serving his beloved Savior in multiple positions including Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and Deacon. Faith and his family meant absolutely everything to Leonard.  Everything he did, he did for Christ. 

Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Friday, January 20, 2023 at Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois, with visitation beginning at 9 AM prior to the service.
