Young United Red Storm Girls Basketball Learning on the Fly

After having the Christmas break entirely off, the United girls varsity basketball team has managed to stay very busy over the month of January. Recently, the Red Storm finished up play in the Lincoln Trail Conference tournament with a 45-20 win over Ridgewood last Thursday and a 41-31 loss to Galva on Saturday. United would finish in 10th place in the tournament. After the tournament’s finish United squeezed in a non-conference game against North Fulton, dropping that one 40-30, and then resumed conference play with a 38-22 loss last night to conference-leading Princeville.
United Head Coach Chris Olson says his team’s struggles on the offensive side can be attributed to the youth of the team, but also says the team continues to make strides in playing fundamentally sound basketball.
