Gerald L. ” Jerry ” Clark, age 88, of Rozetta, Illinois; passed away at 6:00 pm on Saturday,
February 11, 2023, at his home. Jerry was born on March 13, 1934, in Monmouth, Illinois,
and is the son of James W. and Ada B. Snyder Clark. Jerry grew up in Rozetta and
attended Hazel Dell Rural Grade School and then graduated from Biggsville High School in
Biggsville, Illinois in 1952.
Jerry married Beverly D. Sprout on May 6, 1956, at the Fairview Center Church near
Monmouth.
Jerry was drafted into the United States Army on August 21, 1956, and served until August
2, 1958. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class, 32nd Transport Co. During his service,
Jerry drove for the 32nd Transport Company and drove for the Colonel. He was awarded
the Outstanding Achievement Award for the Rock Island Area Command by the Chicago
Tribune.
Jerry farmed most of his life in Henderson County, near Rozetta, growing grain and raising
cattle and hogs. He also enjoyed serving his community. Jerry was a member of the
Rozetta Baptist Church for 73 years. During that time, he served as a Sunday school
teacher, Sunday night youth leader, trustee, and head usher. Additionally, Jerry was a
member of the Warren County Rural Youth, member and past president of the Henderson
County Pork Producers, was on the board for Warren-Henderson Farm Bureau, and served
on the Regional School Board.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beverly of Rozetta, Illinois; one daughter, Brenda
K. Ambrosio and Mike of Seminole, Florida; three sons: Bradley D. Clark and Nancy of
Rozetta, Illinois, Brian L. Clark and Melinda of Rozetta, Illinois, and Brandon J. Clark of
Oquawka, Illinois; five grandchildren: Christopher Clark, Megan (Karl) Gullberg, Miranda
(Ross) Gullberg, Jared (Shauna) Clark, and Payton Clark; and six great-grandchildren:
Liam, Elijah, Carson, Adalyn, Owen, and Kynzie. Jerry is also survived by his brother, Dean
Clark, and wife Ginny of Monmouth, Illinois.
He is preceded in his death by his parents and two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Lillian
Gullberg.
A funeral service for Jerry is planned on February 18, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Rozetta
Baptist Church. Interment with military honors will follow at the Rozetta Cemetery. His family
plans a visitation and will receive their friends at the Rozetta Baptist Church on Friday,
February 17, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been
established for the Rozetta Baptist Church or the Biggsville Ambulance Service.
