Janice Ryder, age 77 of Hermon, IL. passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Janice was born in Cameron, IL on March 11, 1945 to Beulah (Reimolds) and Wayne P. Hart. She attended Monmouth High School. Janice married Gerald Ryder, and together they had two children, Eugene and Annette. She worked as a Cosmetologist for many years before becoming a well-known Florist. Janice was one of the best bakers in the Midwest, often winning Grand Champion at the local Community Festival. She most enjoyed baking biscuits and cinnamon rolls, just as her mom taught her. She was known as the family member that never forgot a birthday or anniversary, and often sent more than 25 cards in the mail each month. She was the person that kept her family connected, often planning the annual family reunions, keeping hundreds of cousins together. Janice was a proud member of VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

Janice is survived by Eugene Ryder of Laura, IL and Annette (Ryder) & Harold Chapman of Lincoln, IL and two wonderful grandchildren, Courtney (Noah) Cross and Hayden (Molly) Chapman. Janice was predeceased by her parents and four brothers, Benard Hart, Merlyn Hart, Donald Hart, and Kenny Hart and one sister, Carolyn Thomas.

A Memorial Service for Janice is planned for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Her family plans to receive friends from 9:30-11:00 AM prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park in Monmouth. Memorial contributions in Janice’s name can be made to Western Illinois Animal Rescue and left at the funeral home.
