WIU Hosting Hot Dog Eating Contest and “Pitch the Paw” at Basketball Game Halftimes

Western Illinois University Housing and Dining Services will sponsor a hot dog eating contest, and a “Pitch the Paw” contest during halftime of the WIU women’s basketball game at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, and the men’s basketball game at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

The hot dog eating contest is open to all WIU students. The winner will receive $50 in Rocky Dollars. Contestants must sign up 48 hours prior to the competition, by visiting bit.ly/WIUHOTDOGS.

Pitch the Paw is open to all children and WIU students. The winner will receive a WIU/UHDS swag bag. There are 119 paws available. Contestants may sign-up before the game, starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 and at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 in the East Arena, behind the bleachers in Western Hall.

At the Feb. 11 game, Colonel Rock IV “Ray” will host his pre-party fifth birthday celebration. There will be cupcakes, freebies, and photo opportunities with the birthday boy.
