Alice L. Johnson, 89, of Knoxville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2023 at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.

Alice was born on September 28, 1933 in Newton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clarence “Slick” and Mary (Parks) Hutchison. She married Wilfred “Fred” R. Johnson on June 3, 1961 at the United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Together, they celebrated 52 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on August 30, 2013. Surviving Alice are her children, Mary Melissa Loving of Irving, TX, Wendelyn Bickell of Knoxville and Travis (Lori) Johnson of Coal City; nine grandchildren, Christine (Soumik) Tsuchiya-Mitra, Jonathan Tsuchiya, Sydney (Shane) Coleman, Christian Johnson, Zachary Bickell, Preston Johnson, Alis Bickell, Griffin Johnson, Brecken Johnson and great-granddaughter, Wrenley Coleman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Linda (Raymond) Nelson, brother James Hutchison and son-in-law Erwin Loving.

Alice was a graduate of the Knoxville High School class of 1952. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Knoxville and the Knox County Home Extension for 32 years. She enjoyed reading and collecting cardinals. Most of all, Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and going to their activities.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-3 PM, on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Hall, 126 South Public Square, Knoxville. A private family burial of cremated remains will be held at the Trenton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
