Grant Funds Available Locally for Persons and Caregivers Impacted by Alzheimer’s

Share

Through the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging, grant funds are available for persons with Alzheimer’s or dementia as well as their primary caregivers at Strom Center in Monmouth for assistance in purchasing supplies or items to enhance their ability to live. Executive Director Carol McCrery informs this program is not income based:

“For any families that have a person that is suffering from Alzheimer’s or Alzheimer’s related disease, we do have a maximum amount of $1,500 that can be spent in various ways; lift chairs, medical supplies, a whole host of things. We helped a person last year provide railing around their front porch. It doesn’t have to be medically related. It can be anything that would make the caregiver or the person with Alzheimer’s have an easier go at it. If anybody is interested in that, it is a very short application. It is not income based, so it doesn’t matter what your income or assets are.”

Funds for the program will end in June.
