Lynne Anne Martin, age 77, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of Stronghurst, Illinois and Chillicothe, Illinois, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2023, at her home with family at her side.

Lynne was born May 9, 1945, in Burlington, Iowa the daughter of Thornton Leon and Dorothy Anna (Simonson) Martin. Lynne was the oldest of six children and grew up in Stronghurst, Illinois.

Lynne attended Special Education classes in the Stronghurst School District, and participated in Special Olympics when she was a resident of Smiley Living Center in Peoria and Stevens House in Galesburg, Illinois. She was very proud of the medals she received.

In 2009 Lynne moved to Indianapolis near her sister Becky and husband Bob. Soon her brother Yale and wife Carol, and her sister Susan and husband Frank also moved to Indianapolis to be near Lynne. Lynne attended Day Services and enjoyed many outings through the New Hope of Indiana organization. Thursdays were reserved for lunch with her siblings at The Grill in McCordsville, where everyone knew her and catered to her every need. Owner, Robert, had a secret stash of bendy straws just for Lynne, and she never let us forget to order cheesecake to go!

Lynne liked to thumb through her magazines looking for ladies’ tops, and always had a purse full of catalogs. She especially liked getting mail and it was even better if a card contained a five-dollar bill. Lynne was very fond of jewelry and usually had many bracelets on each arm.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents and brother Michael Leon Martin.

She is survived by siblings Susan (Frank) Javorsky, Yale (Carol) Martin, Becky (Bob) Kevoian all of Indianapolis, and Rex (Margreth) Martin of Bern, Switzerland, plus many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with the funeral service at 2:00 P.M.

Burial will follow at the Stronghurst Cemetery. Following the services, the family would be honored for you to join them for a luncheon at the Christian Church in Stronghurst.

It is the family’s desire that a memorial donation of $5 be made in Lynne’s name. Send checks to: Jenny Pfeil, New Hope of Indiana, 8450 N. Payne Road, Suite 300, Indianapolis, IN 46268 or online at this link: https://newhopeofindiana.networkforgood.com.
