Mrs. Nancy B. Engels, 85, of Rio, died at 9:05 a.m., Sunday, March 26, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Woodhull.

She was born Thursday, April 1, 1937, in Princeville, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Emma (Busery) Riggen. She married Richard James Engels on October 24, 1953, in Kewanee. He preceded her in death May 28, 2002.

She is survived by sons, Kevin Engels of Victoria and Kerry (Jennifer) Engels of Burleson, Texas; daughters, Pamela (Steve) Engels-Pickrel of Woodhull and Cindy (Clint) Ralston of Galva; son-in-law, Russell Moline of Woodhull; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Patricia Nyert and Mary Medley, both of Kewanee; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Penny Moline; twin granddaughters; an additional granddaughter; and six brothers and three sisters.

She attended Kewanee High School. Nancy was employed by Hy-Vee in the kitchen for many years. She also enjoyed sorting corn seasonally at Pioneer in Woodhull. She was a people person who loved to talk. Nancy was known for baking cookies at Christmastime. She loved going to the beach. Nancy especially enjoyed time spent with her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Kewanee with Pastor David Pendergrass officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
